I'm so backed up lately that I haven't had a chance to post about Ted's favorite day: Tax Day!
I jest. It's actually his birthday, too, and since he's not one for a whole lot of pomp and circumstance (SO unlike his wife), I surprised him with a low-profile, low-maintenance b-day in my mom's kitchen.
Ted should know by now that I always start lying (more) around Christmas and his birthday, but I still managed to catch him unawares. I told him that my mom wanted to make him dinner (I stayed away from making her sound too demanding for fear of him knowing I was lying) for the day of his birthday and gave him a time "she" wanted him to come over.
I had called everyone only a couple days before, and they all rearranged their schedule in order to be there - something I was so grateful for. Thanks, guys! I got Subway, asked Mom to get chips and salsa (one of his favorites) and told Lilian he would love cereal for his birthday (see previous post here). The gang gathered before he got there, so I got a pic of his surprised entrance:
We ate, we laughed (Mike Moore was there - of COURSE we laughed!!) and had cake with song. What's a birthday without it? Here's the gang:

Here's the cake. Of course I made it - it's my husband! Carrot with cream cheese frosting and pecans. Moist and de-delly-licious.

And a closeup of the birthday boy. Happy belated!

Happy belated Ted...may you always get a fat tax refund for your b-day (wouldn't that just be the best?) And also Allison, you started your post with "I'm so backed up lately" that I thought this was going to be an insight into your bowel issues...good thing I kept reading...

Well, I have been constipated the last day or two, but I didn't think it was noteworthy enough to blog about. When I do, though, you can bet I'll come right out and say something like "the poo ain't comin' along the way it should."
